It's been busy here for these two since last Friday. They had to be up at 7:00 a.m to get to our Friday home school class an hour away. They work and study all day to get home by 8 p.m.. There is reading, writing, studying and very little play that happens on Fridays for us. Saturday morning was an other early start. We had to be up before 6 a.m. to get to a debate tournament. That day there were four rounds of debating with this years reform (( should the federal government significantly reform the criminal justice system. )) that lasted all day until 7:00 p.m. that night.
Sunday morning it was finally time to get ready for the important part of the weekend. The part of the weekend that they had been looking forward to for months. They had to be up at a very early 4:15 a.m. to catch a bus traveling to Washington D.C. to stand up for life.
I am told there was a sea of young and old people alike of over 45,000 from all over the world Marching for Life. They told me this was the most awesome thing they have ever been part of. They just couldn't believe how amazing it all was.
When I picked these two up at 2 this morning after a 10 hour bus ride home, one night in a hotel and two days marching in the freezing rain standing up for a cause they believe in these kids were full of energy, excitement and life.

Wow! 45,000 in attendance! Unfortunately, I found only one article on this march from The Washington Post and they implied about 17,000 w/mostly young kids in attendance. To bad they can't count! No matter what - its a great cause and I am so happy that "MY" niece and nephew got to go. (Guess they didn't bring me back any thing?) :)

Think I may try to attend next year... That is if they could change the date for me and hold it in the spring or summer months b/c I hate the cold! AND those marchers look cold!

For some reason this March was down played by the main stream media. The Vigil mass on Sunday night January 22, at the Basilica had 17,851 attendance. So this is were your came from.
I am including links to sites you can go to find these figures. What until you see the pictures Stephen took. You will understand the masses and see there is NO WAY only 17,000 attended this march.
I read on one site ~ that I can't find now ~ there were over a half a million in Washington Marching for life.

And a little histroy telling us how each year this things grows:
The March for Life has taken place every year since the first anniversary of Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1974. That year, about 20,000 people rallied on the West Steps of the U.S. Capitol, then marched in a "Circle of Life" around the Capitol Building before fanning out to lobby their Members of Congress, demanding action on behalf of the unborn. From those relatively modest beginnings, the March for Life has grown dramatically: 50,000 in 1976; 65,000 in 1977; 100,000 in 1986. The numbers have continued to climb, while a new generation of pro-life Americans has taken its place in the ranks. An estimated 225,000 marched on the 25th anniversary of Roe v. Wade in 1998.
Last January, March for Life attendance set a new record of 300,000 plus . . .
Although it is consistently under-reported by the national news media, the annual Marche for Life will someday be recognized as one of the great historical phenomena of our times.

I agree -- life's too short. I teach hs and sometimes I think we put too much darn pressure on these kids. It's true all work and no play. Love your blog. Don't be a stranger.
