her new Card

The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.                               - Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"

Wednesday is usually set aside for the older kids and I to be at debate club all afternoon. I know I have told you in this club parents work as hard as the students to learn this years reform and to help all the students achieve. Most of the time, my Liz spends the afternoon with the best Nana ever.  But, last Wednesday was different. Much to my delight, I didn't have to be at club all afternoon to fulfill my debate'ish parental duties. I got to spend time alone with my youngest.  When we reached our destination in Easley, this little girl and I dropped "our big kids" off at club and then took off quick to the library before anyone noticed.

It was a perfect day to spend together: reading, snuggling and deciding which books we would select to be ours for the week.      And. . . in this perfect afternoon we shared, there was a milestone reach ~ were Mary Elizabeth earned her very own library card.

  9. Congratulations on the new Library Card. I was probably 36 years old before I got my first Card. We didn't live in town, and I didn't learn to drive until I was 35. After that I could drive myself to the library.
